The Straight-Line Walk

A race of balance and behavior
Kavya wants to win the balance race, but the easiest path would bend the rules.
Scene 1: Sports day excitement
The school ground was filled with flags and balloons. It was sports day, and Kavya's favorite event was the water-cup balance race.
She wanted one thing: to reach the finish line first without spilling.

Scene 2: The tempting shortcut
The track had a clear white line. Coach said, "Follow the line. No shortcuts."
Kavya noticed a gap where she could cut across the grass. It would be faster, but it wasn't the rule.
Straight steps, strong heart.
Scene 3: The wobble
Halfway through, her cup wobbled. She could have stepped off the line to steady it.
What would you do—step off to win, or stay on the line and risk being slower?
Scene 4: The kural on the field
Kavya steadied her breathing and stayed on the line. She finished second.
Coach lifted her cup and shared the kural:
ஒழுக்கம் விழுப்பந் தரலான் ஒழுக்கம்உயிரினும் ஓம்பப் படும்.The crowd clapped. Kavya felt taller than the podium.

Scene 5: The special ribbon
Coach tied a blue ribbon on her wrist. "For best conduct," he said.
Kavya smiled. She had not only balanced a cup—she had balanced herself.
Straight steps, strong heart.
Scene 6: The practice line
That evening, Kavya drew a chalk line outside her house. She practiced walking it slowly, laughing with her brother.
